Yukiya Mita, a first-year student from the Department of Electrical Engineering, received the Best Presentation Award at Multimedia, Distributed, Cooperative, and Mobile Symposium (DICOMO2024).
Name of award and short explanation about the award
We received the Best Presentation Award at Multimedia, Distributed, Cooperative, and Mobile Symposium (DICOMO 2024) held from June 26 to June 28, 2024.
The Best Presentation Award is given to the presenter who gave a particularly outstanding presentation, awarded to 3 out of 223 presentations.
About awarded research(activity)
In indoor spaces where GPS is not available, positioning technologies using radio waves (Wi-Fi, BLE) and sound waves are the mainstream. Positioning methods using position fingerprints are particularly suitable for indoor environments where direct wave reception is difficult due to building structures and fixtures. However, these technologies suffer from low positioning accuracy. In this research, we used the propagation time information of multiple reflected waves unique to indoor spaces as a position fingerprint and learning using a CNN, realizing the high-accuracy positioning system using a single loudspeaker.
Your impression & future plan
I am honored to receive this prestigious award. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone in my laboratory who has supported me over the years. We will continue to improve our positioning system to enhance its positioning performance and to make it more versatile through positioning experiments in a variety of environments.
