About awarded research (activity)
In petroleum development, the pressure-volume-temperature (PVT) properties of reservoir fluids are crucial for predicting fluid phase behavior, necessitating accurate and reliable data. This study addresses the black-box problem of neural networks in estimating bubble point pressure and oil formation volume factor by using a modeling approach based on boosted decision tree regression, analyzing its performance in detail. The proposed method demonstrates estimation accuracy comparable to or exceeding existing machine learning models and traditional correlation-based methods, and its effectiveness with missing data has also been confirmed. The outcomes of this research significantly contribute to the advancement of estimation methods for PVT properties in this field.
