Social transformation by mobility technologies!

We are conducting research on applications of magnetics, such as wireless power transfer and higher efficiency motors, which will make electric vehicles capable of running indefinitely, as well as research on motion control for mobility.

Research field 1

Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer for Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicles have the problems of low energy efficiency and environmental impact due to their heavy batteries. We are conducting research on dynamic wireless power transfer (DWPT) as a game-change solution to these problems. DWPT is a large system involving a lot of fields, such as infrastructure, vehicles, and road constructs. Then we are conducting a wide range of research on, not only overall system design of DWPT but also the elements that consists of the system, such as coil design. In addition, we are challenging a new field that combines electrical engineering and civil engineering, which have never crossed paths before.
Research field 2

Advanced System with Electric Machines

We are engaged in research on the design and control of in-wheel motors, which can dramatically improve control performance and system efficiency by placing the motors inside the wheels. We are also proposing a new drive system that combines a variable flux magnet and WPT to reduce loss at high speeds and are engaged in a wide range of research related to electrical equipment, from systems to materials.
