Welcome Remark

The world first remarkable accomplishment of the space exploration vehicle Hayabusa is still vivid in our memory ever since June last year (2010) when it returned home with the extraterrestrial matters from the small planet beyond the earth or the moon. Besides the story of the ion-propulsion engines, the successful mission is a fruit of the wide range of the engineering fields. Amongst of all, we would like to draw your attention to the Electrical Engineering that brought the mission to the real success by providing it with the computer control technologies for the autonomous space-cruising and with the very robust communication technologies to uplink the program despite the high level solar radio noise over the vast long distance from the earth.

Also on the earth, the Electrical Engineering technologies play a major role for the energy conservation against the global warming through the research and development activities to the sustainable energy resources including the solar and wind powers, electric vehicles, and the intelligent power control system called smart-grid.

To meet the increasing expectation to the Electrical Engineering as an enabling solution to the contemporary problems hear and abroad, we renovated and reinforced the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Systems in April 2008, by joining the ex-departments in the Graduate School of Engineering, namely the Electrical Engineering Course and the Electronic Engineering Course, with the Department of Frontier Informatics from the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences. Why not join us with the EEIS, where you find your own part to challenge.

The EEIS department and the previous ones have conducted the 21st Century COE (Center of Excellence) Program of the MEXT for five years since 2002, and have successfully upgraded to the Global COE Program since 2007, where we initiate and cultivate the potential leaders for the next generation who bear profoundly comprehended expertise, wide range of horizon, influencing initiative and international visibilities.
